Imagine you’re fabricating a large metal door frame and you’ve got thick weld seams on all your grooves and joints. Before the frame gets a polish and a finishing coat, you’re going to need to smooth out those welds.
You don’t want to grind with a grinding disc because you might risk grinding too far into the metal, and there’s also way too much thick weld to just use a sanding disc.
A flap disc is the best of both worlds which consists of layered sandpaper glued down in a flap orientation. As it spins, new grinding material is exposed resulting in a ground-down welding seam.
While many market-leading flap discs remove material quickly, the performance drops off just as fast meaning the effort, money and time needed to frequently replace these discs can be annoying.
If you’re sick of burning through flap discs, then it’s time to unleash the fury with cool grinding and extreme material removal.
The Alpha Fury Ceramic Flap Disc is made in Europe and built tough, with a special geometrically shaped ceramic abrasive grain that provides maximum and furiously fast stock removal with low heat generation.
The grains fracture during use, continually forming and exposing fresh sharp points that effortlessly slice through metal. This self-sharpening feature not only stays cool but delivers a consistent quality finish time and time again.
End-users from Studform have had great success using the C80 Grit Fury Ceramic Flap Disc on 40mm welds on fabricated door frames, particularly impressed with the consistency and longevity.
“They last forever!”
Another Alpha end-user loved how fast he completed his job. While using the Fury Ceramic Flap Disc to grind down weld seams and round off the edges of a metal shelving unit, he was impressed with the disc’s low heat generation.
“They didn’t set my pants on fire like the last one.”
The Fury is expertly engineered for heavy engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, metal work and machinist work.
Perfect for stainless steel and metal grinding, rounding off pieces of steel, deburring heavy plates, cleaning weld seams, surface grinding and chamfering.
Alpha’s expert product development team put the fury to the test against two other market-leading competitors.
The Fury Ceramic Flap Disc’s loss of grit weight from start to finish was far less than the other two competitors meaning the quality and consistency of the disc lasts a lot longer.
The first graph shows the number of grams removed per two minutes over a ten-minute period. The performance of all flap discs in the first 2 minutes was extremely high. But, as the minutes passed the performance dropped off very quickly with Competitors 1 and 2.
Users who purchase flap discs like Competitors 1 and 2 are likely to experience much higher consumable costs than they realize.
The performance test reveals that Fury had an extremely superior removal rate compared to the benchmark and market leader.
Fury stayed consistent and strong throughout the whole 10-minute test, producing almost the exact same result it delivered in the first 2 minutes.
The second graph portrays the percentage of the disc used and how much grit was ground away during the test.
Over ten minutes, Fury's loss of grit weight from start to finish was far less than the other two competitors.
Only 9.2% was lost on Fury’s surface compared to a whopping 28% with Competitor 1 and 16.4% with Competitor 2. This test shows that Fury will outlast other flap discs, and can repeatedly produce a quality and consistent finish before a new disc is needed.
The Fury achieves the best results on high-powered angle grinders and is unsuitable for small grinding or light metal work due to the furious grinding action. This can load up the grinder motor and quickly burn out a low-powered grinder.
